The first meeting of the Steering Committee of the project “EU Support to the River Basin Management in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, funded by the European Union, was held today in Sarajevo. After a three-month introductory period in the implementation of the project, this was an opportunity for the representatives of the beneficiary institutions of the Project to express their opinion on the tasks in the following period and to indicate the needs and expectations of the institutions.
During the 18 months of implementation of project activities, the current state of planning and development of river basin management in BiH will be assessed, existing plans will be revised and proposals for improvements will be prepared in order to achieve methodological alignment for all plans in BiH for the planning period 2028 – 2033. Existing plans for water monitoring systems will be evaluated and necessary improvements will be recommend, the water information system will be updated, and Capacity Building Program will be prepared.
